Have you got more land than you need or can physically deal with? Then give some of it up to the local community for allotments and be part of a local food revolution. We are approaching a period in which oil will become initially very expensive and eventually unmarketable. This will have huge repercussions on the growing, packaging, transportation and refrigeration of food. Therefore we need to start rebuilding a local food culture, where we talk about food metres as opposed to food miles, and make a transition to a world without oil.
We believe the best way to do this is to enable as many people as possible to grow their own food. It is proven that when land is broken down into smaller and smaller plots the cumulative effect is much bigger, as each patch gets much more attention than if the entire plot is owned by one person/organisation.
We don't need to wait an eternity for the government to introduce some kind of land reform; we just need to do it ourselves.
